Conditions and assistance programs change. Use the official sources below for the latest information in your county.
Start with your location
A warning, declaration or recovery program may apply to one county and not the next. Look up your county emergency management office for local instructions and resources. Check the National Weather Service active alerts for current weather warnings, and turn on emergency alerts on your phone.
Check the type of update
- Weather warning: an official alert about a hazard and affected area. Read its issue and expiration times.
- State emergency declaration: a government response measure. It does not mean every resident has damage or is eligible for assistance.
- Federal disaster assistance: confirm the designated county and program through official FEMA and Ohio EMA announcements before applying.
- Outage or road closure: check the utility or transportation agency that operates the service; a forecast or grid order alone does not prove an outage.
Use the radar as context
The American Regulators Storm Tracker can help you view weather and selected public-safety layers near a chosen location. Radar images and third-party reports can lag, and they cannot determine whether an individual building is safe. Follow official warnings and responders first.
